CLUB´S HISTORY


In activity since 1.913, when a group of passionate by soccer was congregated in Mr. Miguel Aida´s house and choose its first direction, having as President Mr. Valério Ludgero de Resende. Initially they had adopted the red color and the initials of America of Rio de Janeiro (AFC), opting to the name of Atlético Futebol Clube. Later a new denomination was proposal, and was for all accepted. Atlético Clube Três Corações.
The perpetual sporting rivalry with the neighboring city Varginha is so old as the proper Atlético, already in the first game, in January, 20th of 1.914, had much confusion and fight, but the victory was ours: 2 X 0.
In 1.927, by disagreements between the directions from Atlético and the Associação Esporte Clube, the executive agent (Mayor) Cornélio Andrade Pereira was obliged to participate, promoting the extinguishing of the two clubs involved. This decision would last until the year of 1.938, when the Dr. Daniel come back from Rio de Janeiro and together with other friends, build up the Atlético´s image and soccer again. In 1.941, Liga Esportiva Tricordiana (LET), congregating players from Atlético, Raul Chaves (Canto do Rio) and Coléqio Estadual won the Guaraína Cup, the most important competition from the South Minas. In that team Dondinho played, father of the greatest football player of all the times: Pelé.
From 1.941 up to 1.966, as amateur, Atlético formed great teams and saw appear great soccer players. In 1.960, conquest the difficult and decanted South Minas Match. In 1.966, inaugurates its headquarters and, in 1.967, forms the first professional team. In 1.970, disputes the Mina´s Championship on the first division, with players brought from Cruzeiro from Belo Horizonte, where Roberto Batata has bright as player. In 1.971, besides perhaps forming a better team, being just behind the three great ones from capital: Atlético Mineiro, Cruzeiro and America, saw the good player Vanderley Paiva, derived from it’s own rows (and son of the land), being Brazilian Champion defending the Atlético Mineiro. After a long period of highs and lows, the Atlético comes back to the spotlight in 1.986, year where it conquests the Second Division of the Mineiro Championship, fact that it would repeat in 1.992.
Now, so next to the historical mark that it will go to complete ninety and three years of existence, we have the obligation to keep Atlético vibrant and living to gives us joys and glories.
